Fonds Locaux – Maximum loan of 200 000 $*

Fonds Locaux is a financial tool provided to assist businesses—including expanding social economy enterprises—with their start-up, transition and expansion projects. In the private sector economy, the combined financial assistance from the government of Quebec, the federal government, city of Gatineau and its agent may not exceed 50% of the eligible expenses for each project. In the social economy, the maximum ratio is 80%.*

Eligible businesses*

  • Legally incorporated businesses listed in the Registre des entreprises du Québec (REQ) with a majority of jobs within the city of Gatineau for the project requiring financing.
  • Start-up, expanding, transitioning businesses and expanding social economy enterprises.

Examples of admissible expenses

  • Capital expenses, including land, buildings, equipment, machinery, rolling stock, costs of incorporation and all other expenses of that nature, with the exception of amortization costs.
  • The acquisition of technologies, patents, software and all other expenses of that nature.
  • Working capital requirements related strictly to the business’ operations, calculated for the first year of operations.

*To be eligible for financing, a business must :

  • promote economic development and diversification, as well as wealth creation within Gatineau; and
  • be financially stable: businesses startups must demonstrate solid prospects and profitability, and must be able to cover their financial obligations.

Les projets suivants ne sont pas admissibles :

  • social, community and low-income housing projects;
  • retail, personal and restaurant projects; and
  • projects directed in whole or in part at activities in a saturated market or that would result in job relocations or the creation of undue competition.
